AI Inspirational Performances

April 8th, 2008 by denniessiongco

During the 2nd Idol Gives Back fundraiser, the contestant sang Inspirational songs of their choice.  The phone lines will be open, but there will be no eliminations this week.  All the votes from this week and next week will be counted, and someone will go home next week.  (will it be a double elimnation next week?)  (I stand corrected, there will be eliminations this friday)  Again, thanks to Rickey, we were able to get the videos of the performances as they happen.

First to perform tonight is Michael Johns with the song Dream On by Aerosmith.  We might be seeing a shocker next week.  Michael did not do well with the song.  At this stage of the competition, nobody can afford any mistake.  I am a MIchael Johns fan and I myself didnt like the performance.  The performance lack energy and flare!  If you want to save Michael, dial 1-866-IDOLS-01.

After Michael, next is Syesha Mercado with the song I Believe by Fantasia Barrino.  Another massive failure.  Nobody (and I mean Nobody) performs I Believe better than Fantasia.  What was Syesha thinking?  Her performance lacks something, something that only Fantasia can give.  Another screaming performance.  To be fair, here’s the number to vote for Syesha 1-866-IDOLS-02.

Third to perform is Jason Castro with the song Somewhere Over the Rainbow by Israel Kamakawiwo’ole.  A breakthrough performance for Jason Castro.  By far, his best performance since he entered the Top 12.  Bravo Jason!  Great performance!  He will be safe this week!  But dont be complacent Jason’s fan.  Here’s the number for Jason 1-866-IDOLS-03. (He still has that guitar with him!)

Next on the list is Kristy Lee Cook with the song Anyway by Martina Mcbride.  She chose the right song for her voice.  The judges love it!  I sort of like it too.  Will this mean another week for Kristy Lee Cook?  Right performance on the right time!  You can vote for Kristy 1-866-IDOLS-04.

I will continue the other four perfomances later.

Signing out for now.  Over and out.

Backlash 2008

April 8th, 2008 by denniessiongco

Undertaker_3 After Wrestlemania, the next pay per view big event in sports entertainment wrestling is BACKLASH.  This year, it will be on April 27, Sunday at 8pm EST.  The fallout from WrestleMania has been felt at one event, Backlash. How will the ramifications of WrestleMania XXIV be felt this year?  Check out the fights scheduled for Backlash this year.  For more info, you can visit WWE website.

Undertakeredge Undertaker vs Edge for the WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP

After winning the World Heavyweight Championship at WrestleMania and moving to 16-0 on the Grandest Stage of Them All, Undertaker now heads into Backlash to defend his title against the obsessed former champion, Edge.  Edge will exercise his rematch clause to take back what he claims "is rightfully his".  At Backlash, the Rated-R Superstar will have the opportunity to live up to those words when he challenges The Phenom for the gold.

Fatalfourway Fatal Four Way for the WWE Championship

If two’s company and three’s a crowd, then four, well, four can be downright fatal — especially when you combine the lethal elements of Randy Orton, Triple H, John Cena and JBL in a Fatal Four Way Title Match at Backlash.  While Orton managed to scrape out a victory in his Triple Threat Match against Triple H and Cena at WrestleMania XXIV to retain the gold, can the Legend Killer possibly hope to overcome even stiffer odds with JBL in the mix? If not, which of the remaining competitors will survive the Fatal Four Way Title Match to lay claim to WWE gold?

Ecw Kane vs Chavo Guerrero for the ECW Championship

It didn’t take long for Chavo Guerrero to secure his rematch with ECW Champion Kane. Then again, it didn’t take long for the Big Red Machine to capture the gold from the self-proclaimed “Mexican Warrior,” either.  Despite the quick contest between Kane and Guerrero at WrestleMania XXIV, Kane traveled a difficult road to obtain the title. In a special 24-Man Battle Royal, Kane outlasted the likes of The Great Khali, Mark Henry and other monstrous competitors to become No. 1 Contender to the ECW Title. Later that evening, he took the defending ECW Champion by surprise and laid him to rest in a mere eight seconds.  Now that Chavo has his chance, will he make the most of Backlash and hoist the ECW Title once again? Or will Kane further illustrate why he is deserving of his championship status?

Shawnbatista Shawn Michaels vs Batista

After two confrontations this past week, one on SmackDown and then again on Chris Jericho’s Highlight Reel, it’s official: Shawn Michaels and Batista will go one-on-one at Backlash.  The two Superstars have argued on whether or not HBK made the right decision by ending Ric Flair’s career at WrestleMania XXIV. The Animal blames Michaels for ending his mentor’s livelihood. The Interpromotional Challenge was inked by Raw GM William Regal and SmackDown GM Vickie Guerrero moments after the confrontation on Raw.  What will happen when these two top-caliber athletes, and former champions, collide at Backlash? Will the heavy emotion weighing on both Superstars explode in the ring when they meet in this rare encounter?

I hope I will be able to watch Backlash live.  Its as exciting as Wrestlemania!  I want John Cena to win the WWE Championship, and the Brothers of Destruction to retain their titles!  As for Michaels Batista fight, of course Im on Batista’s side!

Revised American Idol S7 favorites

April 5th, 2008 by denniessiongco

Since Ramiele’s emotional departure on the show last Wednesday, I am revising my American Idol Season 7 favorites!  So far there are only 8 contestants left, I am going to arrange the last 8 according to my favorite to win the competition.

Kristyglam The next to go is Kristy Lee Cook.  She’s been in the bottom 3 several times, and I wish it was her who was eliminated last wednesday, but as my friend would put it, there are still more Americans than Asian in the United States.  Simon obviously thinks she’s forgettable, and I think so too.  Unless there will be a shocker, she’s going home next week.

BrookeglamSyeshaglam  # 7 (or # 6) Brooke White or Syesha Mercado.  After Kristy’s departure, it can go either way.  Unless Barack’s supporters will phone in to vote for her, Syesha will be next to go.  As for Brooke, same as Kristy, I think she lacks the personality, the star factor, and she’s just like an ordinary girl, singing an ordinary song in a bar.  So it can either be a back to back blond elimination, or an ebony ivory combination!  Im going to call it as I see it, it will be in this order!  Brooke then Syesha!  Im sorry but Brooke has no appeal for me!

Jasonglam # 5 will be Jason Castro.  For me, Jason has a limited voice range and he can only sing certain songs (which are guitar based) Do you notice, from the time he got into the top 12, how many times did he loosed that guitar, once?  You might say the same thing for David Cook but the Cook has better voice range and he can tackle different kinds of songs.

CarlyglamMichaelglam  # 4 (or # 3) will either be Carly Smithson or Michael Johns.  Im sorry Carly but I think this season is for the gentlemen.  Even if ur the only girl left in the competition, I still say the guys are stronger.  It will go either way.  She might get more votes because the votes will be split into 3 for the 3 remaining guys.  Apparently David Cook and Michael Johns have the same fan base, so we might expect a shocker down the wire.  I would love a David C.-David A. finals showdown.

David_cglamDavid_aglam  The final two for me will be David Cook and David Archuleta.  With the trend that going right now, where David Cook is becoming hotter and hotter in each performance, I think he can overcome the Archy Angels fan based.  Remember, David A’s fans are different from David C’s so it will go either way.  It will also depends on the perfomance of each contestants week after week.

For me, my favorites totally change after the show entered the Top 10.  After the Billy Jean performance, David Cook became my favorite to win the American Idol!

Kelly Ripa Rocks!

April 5th, 2008 by denniessiongco

Ive been browsing Youtube for the past couple of days, and been watching some videos of Kelly Ripa of Live with Regis and Kelly, and she’s one hilarious lady!  I want to share some of the funniest Kelly Ripa videos Ive seen!

Top 10 Kelly Ripa Videos

10. The one where Regis tried two products on Kelly Ripa’s Legs.  This one’s really funny, Regis tried two instant stocking products on Kelly Ripa, one is made in Japan, the other is American made.  Kelly has great legs!

9. The one where Kelly Ripa rips Clay Aiken.  This is the aftermath of the guesting of Clay Aiken as a co-host to replace the absence of Regis.  (Both videos are really funny!) And here’s the part where Clay puts his hands on Kelly’s mouth.

8. The one where Kelly Ripa interviews Nicole Kidman.  With Mark as co-host, Kelly interviewed one of her more popular neighbors, actress Nicole Kidman.

7. The one where Scott Baio was telling his story on how Kelly bares a boob. In an interview, Scott Baio revealed how she met Kelly Ripa in Hawaii while Ripa was still breastfeeding her baby (and one boob was out!)

6. The one where Kelly was interviewed by David Letterman.  Imagine Kelly, a loud-mouth, guesting on another loud-mouth’s show?  Seldom do we see this, so this is a must-see!

5. The one where Kelly discusses about going to the grocery.  This was when Kelly discussed about toilet paper in the grocery.  Hilarious!

4. The one where Kelly discusses about dining out.  With Mark Consuelos (Ripa’s husband) as co-host, Kelly discussed how he hates Mark ordering organ meats.  "Every meal is like fear factor…" Hilarious!

3. The one where Kelly suggests to Regis to get a Space Bag.  When Regis discusses about travelling and the hassle of luggages.  Space bag is the answer.

2. The one where Kelly discusses about baby sitting.   This was when some friend left their kid with Kelly, and the baby fell and broke his two front teeth.  Really crazy!

1. The one where Kelly got stuck in the elevator in her apartment.  Really funny!  According to Kelly, while stuck, she was calling Macy’s and doing her Christmas shopping.  Women!

Heres a bonus from Rickey, he just shared to us on his site a video of Kelly Ripa doing Thigh Dancing Execises with Anderson Cooper! Anderson Cooper, for those who dont know him, is an anchor of CNN.

Enjoy the videos!

A Poem to Kick Off April!

April 1st, 2008 by denniessiongco

This poem was written by the late Jean Wells Rogers. I picked this up in Yahoo! from the column Dear Abby in time for April Fools!

Enjoy the poem!

APRIL 1

No one goes hungry

All people are fed

The oceans are clean

Lake Erie’s not dead.

The Irish aren’t fighting

The Arabs love Jews

The swords are now plowshares

Now ain’t that good news?

The water’s delicious

The air is so clear

On top of a mountain

You see to next year.

Couples stay married

Children are jewels

Sure got you going!

APRIL FOOLS!

American Idol Top 9 Performs

April 1st, 2008 by denniessiongco

Dollypartonweek As promise, here are the American Idol Top 9 finalist with the hits from Dolly Parton!  Again, thanks to Rickey for the wonderful update online.

Brooke_0401 First to perform was Brook White with the song Jolene.  As mentioned in last weeks post, this genre (country) is Brooke’s forte, so her performance tonight was very good.  I still dont like her, too skinny, too plain, no star factor.  I think Im not the only one who find her that way.

Davidcook_0401_1 David Cook performed the song Little Sparrow.  It was an outstanding performance from Mr Cook!  He’s hot on his heels from last weeks Billy Jean performance!  Im not sure if he opened the show, but if he did, that was an awesome opening! Very good arrangement!  From one hot performance after another, he’s now officially one of my top favorites to win this years title!  Go Cook!

Ramiele_0401_1 Next was Ramiele Malubay with the song Do I Ever Cross Your Mind.  According to Rickey, and I quote, "American Idol just threw Ramiele Malubay under the bus…"  WTF? What did Simon said this time?  I think this is one of Ramiele’s best performance so far in terms of vocals!  What hurt her was performing after Mr Cook (whom I think gave another stellar performance)  Calling all Filipino Americans, let us support Ramiele Malubay!  Vote for Ramiele!  1-866-IDOLS-03 (1-866-43657-03)

Jason_0401_1 4th to perform is Jason Castro with Travelin Thru. He did better this week compare to last week.  But I still say, its anybody’s ball game.  Jason has the voice and the talent.  He has to be willing to reinvent himself and change his style (the clothes, the hair, the guitar).  He should imitate Mr. Cook who has been reinventing himself week after week.  No offense meant to Jason, but I dont like the hair and loose the guitar!

Carly_0401_1 Performing next is Carly Smithson with Here You Come Again.  WOW!  She really has the voice of an angel!  Simon’s really bad this week! (You have to watch the show to understand) This is one of those performances that will give you goosebumps!  Bravo Carly!  This put you in contention again!  Keep it up girl!

Davidarch_0401_1 No. 6th this week is David Archuleta.  He gave a heart warming performance of the song Smoky Mountain Memories.  Another brillant performance from David Archuleta.  With this performance, he was able to catch up with David Cook and Michael Johns in the lead!  He made the perfect song choice!  As Simon would put it, "Absolutely on the money!"

Kristy_0401_2 After David A. was Kristy Lee Cook with the song Coat of Many Color.  I wonder how many colors does her coat have?  She should have worn the coat, maybe people will remember her for that!  It was according to Simon "… it was forgettable…"  I find the performance pitchy, and to think her voice was patterned for country music.  It was not bad, but performing after David A., that made the performance not too good!  I think she will go this week, unless her fans will support her.

Syesha_0401 Coming in at No. 8 this week is Syesha Mercado with I Will Always Love You.  A lot of us dont know (including me) that this song was originally released by Dolly Parton, but later made more popular by Whitney Houston in the movie Bodyguard.  She gave a very powerful rendition of the song!  Calling all Barack supporters, lets give some love to Syesha!  She’s a very talented singer.  I hope her performance this week will help her to stay longer in the competition.

Michael_0401 To cap off the show this week is Michael Johns with the song It’s All Wrong But It’s All Right.  It was a great song to close the night off.  He gave a great rendition of the song.  Very sexy!  Very HOT!  He is still my favorite to win this contest (close behind is David Cook, and David Archuleta)  but who knows?

For me, the bottom 3 this week will be Kristy, Ramiele and Jason.  So calling all Ramiele fans, please dont forget to vote for Ramiele!

My First Home Made Ice Cream

April 1st, 2008 by denniessiongco

I mentioned 3 days ago that I attended an Ice Cream Making class (which was supposedly attended by my wife)  Guess what, I made my own home made ice cream last night.  It was tiring, but I got some help from my mother-in-law’s helpers!  I made UBE FLAVORED ICE CREAM and it was delicious!  It taste like Selecta! Ill try to upload some pictures here when I have the chance.

Ice cream making is a profitable but bloody business.  Why did I say bloody?  Because you need to mix the ice cream mixture for 3 hours, chill it for another 3 hours!  Just imagine those who sell ice cream on the streets, I wonder what time do they wake up every morning?

For now I will just enjoy this first batch of ice cream that I made!

1998 Oscar Best Supporting Actor

April 1st, 2008 by denniessiongco

In 1998, Oscars had an array of great actors nominated for best supporting actor, Robert Forster for Jackie Brown, Burt Reynolds for Boogie Nights, Anthony Hopkins for Amistad, Greg Kinnear for As Good As It Gets, and Robin Williams for Good Will Hunting

Robin The winner was Robin Williams, his first Oscar award in his 25 years in the movie industry, for his role as a psychologist in the movie Good Will Hunting.  He was good in that movie, but that year, all the nominees were excellent.

After 10 years of winning his first Oscar, whatever happened to Robin Williams?  He is still active in making movies, but his recent films have all bombed in the box office (except for Night at the Museum).  The movies he made in recent years (August Rush, License to Wed, Man of the Year) didnt even match the caliber in his oscar winning role in Good Will Hunting.

Such talented actor!  Too bad his talents are not being put into good use!  I love several of his films, including GWH and Patch Adams, but he has to choose the roles he play in films.

I missed the Robin Williams I used to loved!

WrestleMania 24 Undertaker 16-0

March 31st, 2008 by denniessiongco

Undertaker

WrestleMania 24 just ended, and the Undertaker’s streak has extended to 16-0!

For those who are not followers of wrestling, the WrestleMania event is an annual event held by World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) to determine who’re the best of the best for the year.  You can get more information thru their website at www.wwe.com.

Undertaker2Going back to the phenom  (that’s another name they call the Undertaker) he’s been undefeated in Wrestlemania for 16 consecutive title shots.  Since he joined WWE in 1990, he’s been on a roll, headlining one wrestlemania after another (the 2 wrestlemania he missed was due to injury) and had an impressive 16-0 undefeated streak!

What makes this wrestlemania special also was that it was the last wrestlemania match of the legendary Rick Flair.

Flair was given an ultimatum by Mr Mc Mahon (owner of WWE) to a win or retire stipulation.  If he wins his fight, he keeps on wrestling, but if he looses, it will be his last.

Flair It was a memorable match between The Heartbreak Kid Shawn Michaels and Rick Flair.  But in the end, Flair had to succumbed to the Sweet Chin Music.  A 16 time World Champion, he was the idol of every wrestler.  A true legend.  He will be missed by all the fans of WWE.  For more about Rick Flair, click here

Its been a great night!  Cant wait till WrestleMania 25!
